• A GALLERY OF HISTORICAL ART OF BARCELONA

      • With over 50 years of dedication in the promotion of painting and sculpture.

        • Inaugurated in 1963 by its founder, Jaime Lleonart Clarasó, the Lleonart Gallery begins its trajectory in Barcelona's gothic quarter, specifically in the Carrer de la Palla nº6, with the aim of discovering, promoting and consolidating emerging or unknown artists by the public, but not exempt of a quality, nobility and respect for the art and its techniques, variants and styles.

There were many young artists, painters, sculptors and others such as photographers or jewellers, presented by Galería Lleonart, who at that time had'nt galleries willing to bet on a fresh, exciting, rich and sometimes transgressive art, offering another option than not only the reference artists installed in the society of Barcelona.

Several exhibitions and artists of the time could stand out, being the "MACHINES" exhibition held on the basement of the Gallery in 1964, the most remembered and more valued by the public and specialized criticism, becoming a recognition and firm establishment of a new Gallery In Barcelona with its original and innovative artistic proposal.

        • Some of those artists we exposed, are today considered as references in the history of contemporary art in Barcelona, both painters and sculptors whose artistic and personal traces endure in time, being able to find his works in important private collections today, Contemporary Art Museums, or public spaces all over the world, of course mostly in Spain and many other points of the world geography, from Barcelona to Korea, the United States, Panama, Italy and more.

After Jaime Lleonart’s death in 2014, his son Miquel A. Lleonart, became the new director of  the Lleonart Gallery and moved to Aragón 230 street in Barcelona, with a strong convinction and motivation to keep working in promotion and foment in that other Art accessible for all the public.

We work to make this, our passion, the discovery, impulse and consolidation of artists whose vision of art is based on "WHAT instead of WHO" as we agree with that.
